Thoughtful this entire year I have really enjoyed Photography class with Ms.Haggerty. We have done many projects that I have really enjoyed and learned a lot from. My favorite project that we did was the light painting project. I liked this project because it was really different and really fun to create them. This was a project that required a lot of teamwork and I liked how we worked together as a class. Also there was a lot of freedom with this project and we could create what ever we wanted with the light. The project that I learned and developed the most from was the gradient paining. I think this because it was the project that I spent the most time on and I put the most work in to. I feel that this project required a variety of different skills and I liked how we needed to use various skill to create our final product. There were many different projects that we used skills and techniques from prior projects. For example photoshop was used in many projects that we did. Projects that used photoshop is twelve days of photoshop and our surreal image. Through out this class I feel I grew as an artist greatly and I leaned many new skills and techniques that I can use in the future. I think the projects that reflect me as an artist is my photo ones that I took with my camera. I think this because all of my pictures are of things in my life. For example my first one ever was a picture of my lucky pin I wear to skating competitions and my second one is a special place to me because it was the I went to on my last vacation with my family. Overall I really liked this class and I really learned a lot. Ms.Haggerty is a great teacher and the kids in the following years will have a good time in her class.

This was a very fun project we did in class. Light paining is a project that requires a lot of team work. Ms.Haggerty took the pictures. To do this she kept the shutter open throughout the entire time we made the image. To make the image we used out phone flashlights and glow sticks to draw with. While the shutter on the camera was kept open we simply moved the type of light we had (flashlight or glow stick) and the camera captured out drawings.
Forced perspective is a photographic optical illusion used to make objects seem different than their actual size.
Forced perspective is possible by the single lens of the camera. Unlike your eyes, which work in together to create depth perception, the camera only has one eye and no depth perception - it sees things as flat. Photographs where one subject seems to merge with another and photographs which defy gravity are technically part of this genre of photography as well although they actually rely more on orientation and point of view than a true visual compression due lack of depth perception. A psychological phenomenon, when a person perceives a random stimulus as something significant. For example, when one sees faces on or in random objects.
To create this grafitti effect in photoshop I took a flower picture, then rasturized the image and then did the threshold effect to make it all black. The
To create this kaleidoscope effect I used my butterfly effect image and copy and pasted it onto itself. Then, I made the image smaller and rotated it on top of the original. I repeated this step a second time.
To create this butterfly effect i used photoshop. I copy and pasted the original image and made three more. I then rotated and/or flipped the images.
To do this I cut oranges into slices and put them over a light. This created a translucent effect. The oranges with added color have dye dropped onto them.
For this category on the photography idea website you capture different seasons. My pictures both capture forests, but during two completely opposite seasons. One picture shows summer and the other shows winter.
A category on the photography idea website was abstract in oil. For this I put water in a clear vase and then mixed in oil. For some of the photos I mixed in dye, but for others I put a colored piece if paper underneath the vase to add color.
One of the categories on the photography idea website was indoor splash art. This is pictures of things dropping to water. To capture a clear and detailed image I took a slow motion video of things I dropped into water, and then I paused the video and took screenshots.
One of the categories on the website with different photography ideas was kitchen close ups. For this type of photography you take different items or food you find in the kitchen and take close up pictures of them. Because the pictures are so close up it reveals detail.
For this project we had to research a photographer. The photographer that I researched is Adam Burton. He is a landscape photographer that lives in the UK. Adam has no photography background at all and he taught himself everything. The reason he began photography was because he loved to travel and wanted to share the beautiful sites he saw while traveling and exploring. In his photos he stays away from civilization and human activity, and loves to show breathtaking views. Adam also never uses any photoshop or any type of digital manipulations in his photos, because he wants to preserve natures natural beauty. Adam Burton is a very inspirational photographer that i believe everyone should take the time to learn about.
For this project we had to find things that resembled letter of our name and take pictures of them. For example there was a hook on a cabinet that looked like the letter L.
This is my gradient painting. To create this I needed to use a combination of digital photography and painting. There were many steps needed to create my final product of a purple gradient painting of my dog.
I have really enjoyed Photography class so far this year. Three of my favorite assignments have been the point of view project, paper lantern and the shadow project. I liked the point of view project because we got to come up with creative things to do and getting a picture of two opposites in one picture was a challenge. The paper lanterns is one of my favorite too because it wasn't just taking pictures it was also a hands on project. Finally, I liked the shadow project because it was fun to make little scenarios to tae pictures of and I've never thought of using a shadow to reveal something about a photo.I think the most valuable things I learned was the principle and elements of photography. I think this is because I continued to notice those things in later pictures that I took. I used the skills from the elements and principles assignment in later assignments. For example my most recent project, the point of view project, shows emphasis of color in my two pictures in part 1. I think the project I would re-visit and improve upon is the realistic abstract and non-objective, because now that i know more about photoshop I think i could make a cooler non-objective picture. I think something i would like to do in the future in this class is maybe action shot pictures, landscapes or night time photos.
To complete my project I first selected a background image to display all of my other pictures onto. I put that picture into photoshop and selected 10 other images to display in my project. Next, I erased the background of each of the other pictures and dragged them onto my background image, So that they are all together. Next, I arranged them in a neat way. Finally, to blend them together I reduced the opacity of the pictures. I left the pictures of me more opaque than the ones that i wasn't in.
To make my paper lantern I first created my shapes using the pen tool. Next I put them all on the template alternating and flipping them to make a pattern. After I finished i printed out my designs. Next, I began the cutting process. To do this I used a knife and cut along the lines. After i was finished cutting I folded up the shapes. To photograph my lantern I first took a few photos of it flat, which really showed the shadows well. After, I took pictures of it stapled into a cylinder, one of a side view and one looking through the top.
The three types of visual artwork are Realistic, Abstract and Non-Objective. Realistic artwork aims to represent actual objects or subjects from reality. Abstract aims to take subjects from reality but present them in way that is different from the way they are viewed in our reality. This may take the form of emphasizing lines, shapes, and colors that transform the subject. The third type of art is often mistaken for Abstract art although it is entirely different from it. Finally, Non-Objective art takes nothing from reality.
Depth of field and illusion give a three-dimensional view to a photo. It gives things in a picture the look of being closer or further away. Depth of field can be shown by using size and vertical location, overlapping, detail (aerial or atmospheric perspective), or linear perspective. Aperture relates to depth of field by the wider the aperture the narrower the depth of field is. In my pictures the pink flowers show a deep depth, the walkway shows medium and the yellow flowers show a shallow depth.
This is my yearbook designed I made using Adobe Illustrator. I have the name of our school, the graduation year, our Millis Mohawks logo and out motto.
